End of the Year

Well it is the end of another year and I did no fighting again. So my goals for the New Year shall be to improve my core body strength, loss more weight and get back into armour. I have committed myself to Gulf War (March 2011) this year and need to get myself and my kit ready. Working on my aventail band today, hopefully I will get my aventail measured a cut and sewn on to it tonight at Kevin's work shop. My greaves are done and I am working on cleaning them up so I can put my leg harness together.

School was good, got (3) A's in my Fundamentals of Criminal Law, Criminal Investigation and Court Systems and Practices. Next semester will be a bit rough, I have (5) classes at 15 hours, an on-line basic police officers course and then I will have to study and take the TCLEOSE exam- but at which time I should have my Associates in Criminal Justice and my TCLEOSE certification.

November 2010

Well started back on a diet to lose some weight and get into shape, started jogging-walking-mostly walking. School is going well and looking forward to finishing up my AA-Criminal Justice in May 2011 and getting my TCLEOSE done also. Here are some SCA projects I am working on right now.

Back in the Saddle

Well got out to armouring last night, didn't get a whole lot done, but got my ideas on my aventail (chain maille drape that hangs from the edge of my helm) remeasured and confirmed so I feel much more confident on cutting the damn thing this time.

It was nice to get back into the groove, tried to work on my frontal greaves (lower leg armour that covers the shin and sides of the calf), but had forgotten what I had been doing, so was kinda stumped. It has to be the hardest piece of armour I have ever attempted as they have a lot of complete curves. Just look at your lower leg, it is not a neat even cone.....

Since I am not working, this means I do not have to eat fast food, so going to go on a diet and eat better. Less fat, sugar and carbs and more lean meats, vegetables and smaller portions.

The Limper

Well I am on short-term disability leave for 30 days to let my calf muscle heal. We tried the no standing at work and it just didn't work, having to do 3-4 jobs at the same time and only having 3 techs a day just makes it too hard for the rest of the staff. Not to mention that the pharmacy is a ergonomic nightmare and was designed as a torture chamber if you are trying to sit down.

Got my crutches and hobbling around, not too bad now that I am not standing 8-9 hours a day on it; hoping to get out to armouring as I can sit and get my repairs made to my kit and need to get authorized so I can attend Lysts at Castleton in early April.

Trying to ear better and have lost almost 7 lb.'s over the last week or so, no fast food does wonders for you.......

Combat Archery

Well I have decided to see if I like combat archery, got a kettle helm (which I still need to strap and pad and get an aventail for it) and decided to get a longbow instead of a crossbow to make sure I like CA before I spend the money of a new period crossbow. I like shooting bows for target archery, but really don't like crossbows as it is too much like shooting a rifle.

Work and the Asshat drones that run it have gone crazy, so between tearing my calf muscle and work I haven't been able to hit practice or armouring, but think I got it ironed out. Maybe be late, but I should be able to get there.

2010

2010 sounds like some title for a movie or something.......

Well started school today, Spanish I again, hopefully I can pass this time as I am really getting tired of taking Spanish. Taking a lab class to go with it this time, so hopefully that will help and I can get Spanish I and II done so I can be finished already.

Going to hit armouring tonight, hopefully get my helm done so I can start going out to practice again. Need to start working on my lamellar I got for Christmas. Things I need to get fixed ASAP:

1. My helm adjusted and aventail reinstalled.
2. Fix my kite shield from a center grip to a strapped shield.
3. Make some splinted arms.
4. Make a set of low profile legs to wear under my cool new Rus pants.

Have decided to try a Kevian Rus kit, as my 14c kit was stalled and every time I look at my device or think about my name submission I get really pissed and demotivated. I know it is irrational, but it just happens....

Octubre

Well my 2nd Spanish I test was last Thursday and think I did ok, hopefully not as bad as I thought as I was tired and didn't sleep well the night before. Got to my first armouring session and screwed up my aventail, further screwed it up yesterday while trying to fix it. Luckily I have a second flat-ring one from Master Knutt I will use, so maybe the round ring one will become a mail standard for my heavy fighting gorget. Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things and get projects done.
